St. Anthony The Abbot K of C Council 6800 Honors it's Olympian

Congratulations goes out to Robert Moore for winning a spot on the US Special Olympics Equestrian Team. Robert will be Representing the United States at the 2019 Special Olympics World Games, to be held in Abu Dhabi, March 14th-28th of 2019.
Robert’s Journey began at the age of five, when he started working with horses at Hillsborough County’s Bakas Equestrian Center, in their “Horses for the Handicapped” program. Robert has Autism, a developmental disorder with variable severity, that affects social interaction and communication. He became active in the Special Olympics program at the age of ten. Since then he has won twenty Gold, three Silver and one Bronze medal. Special Olympics USA hosted the Special Olympics USA Training Camp on September 17th-21st at the University of Delaware, where 300 athletes and coaches from sixteen sports came together to practice. As a delegate to the Special Olympics World Games, Robert was able to practice and bond with teammates from across the country in preparation for the World Games in March 2019. His travel and hotel expenses are paid by Special Olympics.
Along with an intensive training schedule, Robert attends the University of South Florida. He also attends St. Anthony the Abbot Catholic Church in Brooksville, where he serves as an Alter Server and Lecter. Robert is a member of the Knights of Columbus Council 6800 at St. Anthony and holds the position of Advocate. A Man of God, Horseman, Student, Special Olympian and Renaissance Man.
