The Knights of Columbus, Santa Maria Council 4999 hosted their 25th Annual Religious Appreciation Dinner on April 24, 2012 at the Doubletree Hotel in Palm Beach Gardens, FL. This annual event is the Knights of Columbus’ way of showing their appreciation for the priests, sisters, deacons and religious that work so hard and pray for us.
This year’s honored guest was Bishop Gerald M. Barbarito, Bishop of the Palm Beach Diocese. The events guest speaker was Sister Joan Dawson, retired Superintendent of Catholic Schools for the Diocese of Palm Beach, who served as lead administrator for 20 years.
One of the highlights of the evening was when Grand Knight Thomas Conroy presented Reverend Thomas Lafreniere a donation of $5,000, $500 for each of 10 seminarians currently attending St. Vincent de Paul Regional Seminary in Boynton Beach and a check for $1,000 to the seminary, from the Santa Maria Council 4999.
