Deacon Ed Wolf, a runner in the annual Run for Life from Homestead to St. Augustine lives his dream; leading a team from several cities on the Florida East Coast he along with Team Captain Chuck Rosner plan the event the entire year. Scheduling a route, staging stops and enlisting the support of Knights and others along U S 1. Wolf from St. Augustine welcomes all to join him and the team, Brad Poston, Stuart; Rebecca Schill, Melbourn and Jim Tulley the Mayor of Titusville. "Today we had a total of seven runners, including Fr. Ciofi, our celebrant at mass this morning," Wolf added.
Chuck Rosner who walks and runs sometimes, but who drives one of the support vehicles more often looks for a big turnout with the same number of local runners joining the team. He expected that Sundays leg would be as successful as the first day.
Each stop has its own flavor Preston and Schill added; we look forward to our reception at each stop along the way. This year District Warden 73 Kevin Seifried hosted for the 22nd year, a dinner that raises funds for the Runners and their cause.
Seifried said the dinner that began as a rest stop and special evening meal for the run team evolved into a fine dinning event 12 years ago, raising several thousands of dollars over the years. Seifried moved the event to his home several years ago but is has grown and become too large for him to accomodate it at his home "this is the last year I can host the dinner hear, next it will be at the Council hall; its larger; easier to arrange parking; and, I want to make certain that the event will not lose out because we can't accomodate all who would like to attend. " There were 53 guests at the dinner.
Rosner who is known for his devotion to the Run; was busy talking to all about plans for next years run, 2013 will mark the 25th Anniversay, "we've got to make it special," Chuck added.
