Council 7052 Helps with Parish 4th of July Picnic

Members of Fr. John J Walsh Council, 7052, District 50 helped Epiphany Cathedral parish with the July Fourth picnic following the closing Mass, celebrated by Bishop Dewane, of the Fortnight for Freedom.
The free Fortnight For Freedom picnic was a project of Epiphany Cathedral, Venice, FL. Fr. John Fitch was the coordinator and enlisted many of the parish ministries to help, including the Knights of Columbus and the Women’s Auxiliary.
The knights of Council 7052 happily deferred their scheduled picnic and purchased, and cooked, 252 hamburgers and 242 hot dogs while the women of the Ladies Auxiliary served for an estimated 500 parishioners and guests. Parishioners provided side dishes and desserts galore.
The picnic was held on the Epiphany School grounds. Bishop Dewane opened the event with a prayer and everyone then sang the Star Spangled Banner. Patriotic music was played during the picnic and games were available for the children.
From the comments received from those in attendance, everyone had a good time and stated that this was the best event ever held by the parish.
