Some of you may have encountered a malware warning when on the website. Please do not be alarmed.
Earlier this year our site became infected with two separate programs. Both have been removed. The first was more of an annoyance: it just generated error messages until the log files used up all of our free space, causing the site to crash. The second was a little more insidious: it looked for Internet Explorer users who played a certain online game (I don't remember which one) and then locked all the user's points and tried to ransom them.
The website is being (slowly) updated with an eye towards maintainability and, eventually, performance. Part of this process means upgrades to various pieces of the underlying software. One of those components relates to email addresses. The system never permitted email addresses to be shared, although there were ways to circumvent that restriction. That is no longer the case. All the duplicate addresses have been removed. In most cases the true owner was obvious; in several, it was not.
The primary purpose of the photo in the My Account section is for identification. The photos are used in the various directories and are a significant part of the badges we generate (e.g., at the State Convention). If you're running for a state office or as a delegate to the Supreme convention, your photo appears on the ballot
And although we all love small children and animals, do not include them in your photo. Do not use a vacation photo. The grand Canyon is majestic but we've all seen it. Same for boats, motorcycles, ....
