Sir Knight George Jacobovic wins Veterans Support Award

Palmetto resident George Jacobovic was presented with the Girvin Award, an award created by the Florida District of the Knights of Columbus to honor the Fourth Degree Florida Knight who best exemplifies service to our State's Veterans, at a special event held at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Bradenton on April 28th.

Alfred R. Anci, the Knights' State Director for Veterans Activities, in presenting the annual award, noted George Jacobovic's untiring efforts to not only raise funds to support the efforts of the Knights of Columbus to assist Veterans and Veterans causes, but to educate the public on what the Knights do for Veterans through the Veterans Administration Volunteer Services (VAVS). George is also a member of Holy Cross Catholic Church in Palmetto, FL.

The Fourth Degree Knights of the San Damiano Assembly, to which George belongs, have contributed over $25,000 in recent years to assist local Veterans, including supporting the Fisher House at Haley Veterans Hospital in Tampa, and the Paws for Patriots program at Southeastern Guide Dogs, here in Palmetto.
