Council #13051 Support Citizens with Disabilities Boca Raton

The Knights of Columbus of St Joan of Arc, Boca Raton, Council #13051 conducted the Citizens with Disabilities Tootsie Roll Campaign Springtime 2018 raised over $11,600.
The initial goal was to double last years $1,400.00 Under the leadership of brother knight Walter F. Johnson III, he established a goal of $5,000.00. Campaign captain Wally prepared detailed literature and walked into numerous local merchants and businesses. His solicitation was eagerly supported and the the campaign soon took on a life of its own. An early success prompted the leader to establish a new goal of $10,000. The campaign progressed and several site leaders were enlisted. Local vendors authorized multiple weekends which permitted more than thirty volunteers, who were Knights, Columbiettes, Scouts, Dad's Club, Men's ministry to "beg" customers for contributions.

The campaign goal was exceeded as over $11,600 was collected. The Knights of Columbus Council #13051 pledged funds to local Achieve, Inspie, Motivate Ministry ( A.I.M.). Annually, AIM conducts a Spiritual Weekend Retreat for individuals with physical disabilities. The weekend-long retreat is held in a loving accessible and accommodating environment in the Duncan Retreat Center, Delray Beach. The center charges $270.00 per individual. The Knights pledged contributions to support individuals who need financial assistance to defray the cost of the retreat. With the success of the spring campaign, COuncil #13051 now committed support for ten individuals for the next four years.
Additional funds were sent to support Special Olympics thru the State of Florida, K of C Charities.
