Knights of Columbus

Charitable Fund Donation

For the past three years the Milton Knights of Columbus (KofC) has hosted a Kansas City Barbeque Society (KCBS) sanctioned “Smokin in the Square” barbeque cook-off at Seville Square during the first weekend of March, with all profits going directly to local charities. This year’s recipients are Manna Food Bank with Executive Director DeDe Founlacker, and Program Director Cathy Sowell shown receiving the donation from Milton KofC Council Grand Knight John Recke.
The second recipient for 2012 was Covenant Hospice, who was represented by Covenant President and CEO, Dale O. Knee.
The driving force behind the Smokin’ in the Square fundraiser is Field Agent SK Ivan Delabruere. Sir Ivan serves as committee chair and spends countless hours ensuring flawless cooperation between the KCBS sponsor and the myriad of government, business, and civic, agencies necessary to bring this contest to fruition during the first weekend of March each year. He maintains contact with competing teams throughout the year, accepting reservations from the best of the teams for the following year’s cook-off. Milton Knights serve the community in many areas; such as providing free hot dogs, chips and sodas each month to our Vets at the VA Center in Warrington, and recognizing our military members with a banquet each year. Our Knights also take part in local civic programs such as parades and the Blessing of the Fleet occurring in Milton each year.
